The Courage to Lead Differently

The Story Behind the Strategy

I believe in bold ideas, deep transformation, and the kind of leadership that challenges what we’ve been told to accept.

My journey hasn’t been a straight path. I’ve worked in banking, compliance, retail, operations, fintech partnerships, building teams, turning around struggling departments, and navigating complex industries. But I’ve also traveled the world, immersed myself in different cultures, learned to see my own through a new lens, and explored the depths of human connection.

Joke’s on me, back in college, I scoffed at the idea of working at a bank. A few years later? I found myself in banking… and eventually became Director of Compliance. The universe has a sense of humor.

Before stepping into the corporate world, I was a writer. Co-editor of my high school newspaper, deep into creative writing, English, and journalism, always drawn to storytelling, always trying to make sense of the world through words.

Somewhere along the way, I forgot how much I loved it. I got caught up in doing, building, and executing for others. But after journeying back to self, I’m stepping back in. Because words have power, and it’s time to use them, even if it looks a little different in today’s world.

Beyond my career and travels, I’m a mother to two incredible kids who remind me what truly matters and why I do what I do. I’ve been blessed with colleagues who’ve had my back through every challenge and triumph.

And that’s why I love what I do today. Coaching, consulting, helping people see what’s possible, and bringing new businesses to life isn’t just my work, it’s my purpose. Right now, I’m developing a fintech solution to bridge banks, nonprofits, and underserved communities, because real innovation happens when we build the solutions we wish existed.

I know what it feels like to wake up and realize you want more. To question the system, to step outside of what’s comfortable, to start listening to that still, small voice that says: There’s something bigger for you.

That’s when everything shifts, when the weight of the past fades and the vision of the future pulls you forward.

That’s what The BRAVE Ideas Newsletter is about.

It’s for leaders, visionaries, thinkers, challengers, and changemakers who know they’re meant for something bigger. Those ready to lead differently, think differently, and create lasting and impactful legacy. It’s for those ready to balance heart and strategy, vision and execution. If that’s you, welcome.

The world is shifting, and those who dare to evolve will be the ones shaping what comes next.

So if you’re here, you’re already feeling it.

✨ The pull.

✨ The shift.

✨ The transformation.

My question to you is this:

Will you resist it, or will you step fully into who you were always meant to be?

Let’s get to work.

Leading Beyond Limits

The BRAVE Balance: Leading with Heart & Strategy…For People and Companies

Leadership, whether you’re an individual leader or an entire company, isn’t just about making decisions. It’s about knowing how to make them. Some moments call for vision, connection, and deep understanding, while others demand structure, execution, and strategy.

But too often, both people and companies lean too far into one or the other:

🔹 Too much heart? A leader may struggle to set boundaries or make tough calls. A company may have great culture but lack clear direction.

🔹 Too much strategy? A leader may get lost in numbers and efficiency, forgetting the human side of leadership. A company may drive revenue at the cost of engagement, culture, and long-term sustainability.

The best leaders and the best companies, master the dance between the two.

In my BRAVE framework, this balance is critical:

Building Authenticity → Leaders who show up with realness inspire trust. Companies that operate with transparency build loyalty.

•Regulating Excellence → Excellence isn’t accidental, it’s intentional. It’s about setting a high standard for yourself, your work, your team, and your impact, then having the discipline, resilience, and strategic focus to rise to it. For leaders, this means refining skills, decision-making, and execution. For companies, it’s about creating systems that uphold excellence without burning out their people.

•Accumulating Knowledge → Leaders gain wisdom from experience, insight, and a commitment to lifelong learning. The best companies don’t just collect data, they interpret context, anticipate trends, and understand the human side of business to stay ahead.

•Visualizing Impact → Leaders see beyond the immediate task and set a meaningful vision. Companies that create lasting change don’t just execute, they envision the ripple effect of their work.

•Executing with Courage → Leaders must make bold moves even in uncertainty and have the hard conversations that drive real progress. Companies that thrive don’t just play it safe, they take calculated risks on innovation, people, and culture to create meaningful impact.

The strongest leaders, and the most innovative companies, aren’t just strategic thinkers or heart-centered visionaries. They are both.

Main Takeaway: Success isn’t about choosing between heart and strategy, it’s about knowing when to lean into each.

💡 People who master this lead thriving teams.

💡 Companies that master this build movements, not just businesses.

📝 Reflection Moment:

Where do you (and/or your company) tend to lean…too much heart or too much strategy?

What might change if you found the right balance?

I invite you to sit with this question for a moment. But instead of just thinking about the answer, write it down.

A 2019 study published in Psychophysiology found that expressive writing about past challenges increased activity in the mid-cingulate cortex (MCC), a brain region involved in processing emotions and adapting to new experiences (Schroder et al., 2019). This suggests that writing helps reframe challenges, making it easier to regulate emotions and move forward with clarity.

So, consider setting aside just five minutes at the start of your day (or when you first get to the office) to reflect and put pen to paper. The act of writing engages your brain in a way that simple reflection does not, helping you see patterns, recognize insights, and shift your perspective.

💡 Try it for a few days and notice what changes. Sometimes the biggest insights come from the smallest habits.

The Deep Dive

🦋 The Resistance to Becoming Who We’re Meant to Be

Ever wonder why transformation feels so hard? Even when we know deep down that we’re meant for something more?

The caterpillar doesn’t just become a butterfly…it fights it. It resists its own metamorphosis, because in order to transform, it must completely break down first.

Inside the chrysalis, the caterpillar dissolves into a cellular soup before reforming into something new. It’s not comfortable. It’s not pretty. And if the caterpillar could think the way we do, it might try to cling to what it was, because it’s familiar, because it’s safe, because transformation feels like dying.

But what if the discomfort isn’t the enemy?

What if it’s the necessary process of becoming?

Right now, we are living through massive shifts, in how we work, how we lead, how we live. The systems we were told to trust are breaking down. The career paths that once seemed stable now feel uncertain. And yet, this discomfort isn’t the end of something, it’s the beginning.

The caterpillar doesn’t know it’s becoming a butterfly. It just knows everything feels like it’s falling apart.

So if you’re feeling that pull, the call to lead differently, to live differently, to step into something bigger, you’re not crazy. You’re evolving.

And evolution doesn’t come with a roadmap. It’s messy, uncomfortable, and unpredictable. It asks you to let go of identities, habits, and beliefs that once felt like home. It challenges you to sit in the unknown, to trust a version of yourself you haven’t met yet.

Here’s the truth: If the caterpillar resisted change, if it clung to the safety of what it knew, it would never take flight. It would stay grounded, never knowing that its destiny was to soar.

So ask yourself: Where are you resisting your own metamorphosis?

• Are you holding onto a version of success that no longer feels aligned?

• Are you staying in spaces that feel too small for who you’re becoming?

• Are you afraid to step into what you know is next because it feels uncertain?

Transformation isn’t a one-time event. It’s a series of choices.

A choice to trust the discomfort.

A choice to let go of what’s safe in exchange for what’s possible.

A choice to stop waiting for permission and start stepping into your own power.

Because at the end of the day, the only question that matters is this:

Will you resist your own transformation, or will you follow that BRAVE Idea and allow yourself to become who you were always meant to be?

Win The Day.
